NARS has worked with so many different makeup artist over the years. The NARS Cosmetics Facebook page actually displays all the information about previous catwalk shows from all over the world. I love how they've done this because, as a fan of the brand and products, it makes people feel closer to the brand. It makes it more realistic as it's giving it a personal feel compared to the high end fashion companies like Chanel and YSL.
The first picture and information I came across was for backstage at London Fashion Week AW14. The lead makeup artist was Val Garland, and it also gives you all the information about what she used on the face, eyes, brows, and lips. NARS was the show's make-up sponsor for this certain catwalk show (Vogue, 2014). Below are the screenshots and images that were on the NARS Facebook page.
The next backstage catwalk looks that I came across was from the London Fashion Week AW16, working with lead makeup artist, Mark Carrasquillo. Carrasquillo said in an interview to Buro247, "The look is all about honest, clean, perfect individualistic beauty. The collection definitely played a great role in inspiring it. There is a lot going on with textures, silhouettes, metallics and the likes, so we wanted to make the beauty look more about the girls, as they already look great in the clothes." (Buro 247, 2016)
This backstage look was created by Francois Nars for Marc Jacobs Fall 2016 catwalk. The set look for this show was 'Punk-Meets-Flapper'. Nars had an interview with WWD magazine saying, "It's all black - every single bit of it." He created six looks inspired by Eighties punk - ranging from a cat eye to an extremely smoky eye, finished with black lips. (WWD, 2016). The finger waves in the hair were created by hair stylist Guido Palau.
The final backstage catwalk look that I found on the NARS Facebook site was from New York Fashion Week 2016. The lead makeup artist was Mark Carrasquillo, who I looked at earlier. He had another interview about this look and gave his inspiration for it. " I was inspired by a young Hispanic girl in New York. She's really confident and likes herself - she doesn't entertain all the makeup tricks 'contour, foundation & powders' she goes straight for a strong lip. This is a sophisticated update on the heavily-lined lip from the 90s. I played with the colour and application on the lips, kept the rest of the face clean and bare, and brushed gloss through her brows to keep it young. It's beauty with attitude." (Blinging Beauty, 2016).
