Equipment;
- Paddle brush
- Pin tail comb
- Hair bands
- Section clips
5 Strand Braid
Method;
- Section off a large part of the hair at the back, with two smaller sections from the front of the head, either side of the of the ears
- Concentrate on the large section of hair on the back of the head, and split it in to five equal sections
- This is all about a weaving motion of the hair
- Going from right to left, number 1 - 5, grab the 5th piece and weave under the 4th, and then over the 3rd section
- Then grab the 1st section and place under the second, and then over the 3rd section, pull tightly together to group together
- Repeat these two steps over and over until you reach the bottom of the hair, and place a hair band in place to secure it
8 Strand Braid
- Carry on from where you left off with the 5 strand plait
- Take the right section of hair that was left at the beginning of this
- Start to create a normal plait, then get the furthest section to the right going under the section of the 5 strand plait, and weave it in together till it links
- Carry on doing another normal plait for one section, then weave the next section of the right into the right section of the 5 strand plait
- Carry on this process until its at the end of the hair
- Place a hair band in the end of the hair
11 Strand Braid
- Carry on with the rest of the hair
- Take the left section of hair that was left at the beginning of this
- Start to create a normal plait, then get the furthest section to the left going under the section of the 5 strand plait, and weave it in together till it links
- Carry on doing another normal plait for one section, then weave the next section of the left into the left section of the 5 strand plait
- Carry on this process until its at the end of the hair
- Place a hair band in the end of the hair
Waterfall Braid
- Section off a small square piece of hair at the front of the head, preferably near the parting
- Start to create a normal French plait, with the section on the left side of the plait, leave out of the plait and ask your model to hold this section
- Group in another section to replace the piece you asked your model to hold, from the top of the hair and work into the plait
- Leave out the section the flows down on the French plait
- Carry this on till you reach a point your happy with and carry on with a normal plait
As you can see from the pictures, I did get this a bit mixed up with which section was to go down. In result to this, you can see where the section of hair sticks up, instead of flowing nicely down like the others.
Ladder Braid
- Carrying on from the waterfall braid, the ladder braid connects and becomes parallel to the waterfall braid
- Section off a square piece of hair under the one you made before
- Create a French plait and incorporate the sections that flow down from the waterfall braid into the right section off the bottom French braid
- Carry this on till the end of the hair
Dutch Braids
- Section off the hair into two with a middle parting
- Pin away the other half of the hair
- Start from the top section of the front of the head and start to braid
- Bring the right section under the middle section, then the left, under the middle
- It's opposite to what a French braid would be
- Bring in a section of the head and bring it under the rest of the braid
- Carry this on till the end of the hair and place a hair band in place to secure the look
