Advertisement Inspiration

NARS has a theme when it comes to their makeup adverts. You will also see a models face close up, in which ever angle, with the product that they are selling being clearly displayed onto the picture. I love how they do this because they keep it simple. They want the customers to know exactly what they are selling, and they make it clear. Below are some of their previous makeup collection campaigns.

I knew I wanted to do a soft face on look for the day makeup. This is because that is what NARS do, for the softer makeup looks, they do softer poses and have the model looking into the camera lens. It gives off an innocent approach. My night makeup look is a little more fierce. You have the black clothing, the dark shade of lipstick and a striking and powerful pose. Theres a clear divide and contrast between the two looks.

I created two moodboards that include the makeup look, posing, hair styling, the clothing - which is nude for the day, so I included the model on the left middle picture to show this - and the makeup products. I wanted this day makeup to be soft so I chose a lot of nude makeups that were more pretty than anything else. The night one is a little darker, to represent nightlife. For this shoot, I knew I wanted to get a strong side profile with hands involved. This type of photograph looks lovely with a strong jawline, hense the black and white images. Here are my moodbaords for the day a night looks:
