I used the model I did for the advertisement look, as I wanted to use someone with lighter, pale skin. Naomi fits this perfectly, her skin is flawless and perfect for my idea. This is the image to took of the makeup behind the scenes:
The make-up look for this is natural nudes and pinks, this is also the colours of the NARS SS16 collection. As Francois main focus of his brand is keeping a woman's natural beauty and not masking it with make-up, I wanted to create that in my own way. I did this by achieving a flawless skin with an illuminating makeup to highlight her natural features.
Here are the images from the shoot for day and night make-up advert campaign, Spring/Summer 16:
As you can see, I developed as I went on throughout the shoot. To start with, I just couldn't get the lighting right, it was either too light and over exposed or too dark and underexposed. As my model haven't modelled before, I had to give her some direction while doing it so we tried a few different poses. At the same time, I was experimenting with close ups and further away positions. I believe the close up images came out better than most of the distance images.
The background I created for this photoshoot was done using gel lighting. For the first shoot, I used a hot pink background sheet, and placed a light behind my model facing the wall. I used a yellow sheet of plastic to create the colour that appears on the background. I love how it turned out because its made a sunset colour effect, which reflects daytime. The second photoshoot, I still used the hot pink background, but I used a pink sheet of plastic for the gel lighting and moved the lights position slightly. I did this to give off a darker colour while still being similar to the day look. I placed the gel lighting to the left of the model, still facing the back wall. Doing this meant that I wouldn't get any shadows, and I don't lose any of the colour from the background. I really like how these turned out.
Overall, I'm pleased with how this shoot turned out. You can see a clear divide from day and night looks, along with outfits and the backgrounds.
