Hair Technical File - Finger Waves

Finger Waves

Equipment;
  • Water in a spray bottle
  • Sectioning clips
  • Pin tail comb
  • Curlers

Method;
  1. Section off a small section of the front of the head going down towards the ear
  2. Wet down this section of the hair until its rather wet
  3. With your pin tail comb, brush the hair in a diagonal direction then push the hair back on itself and clamp your fingers around it, hold it for a few seconds the hold into place with the sectioning clamps

Another way to get the finger waves
  1. Use the pin tail comb to move the hair in a diagonal direction
  2. Once you get to the end of the section, curve the pin tail comb in on itself and push up again slightly, continue to do this and go over it until you've got the curve that you desire
  3. Place a sectioning clip in place and continue to the end of the hair
  4. At the bottom of the hair, roll up onto itself to into a pin curl and pin in place to finish the look

Finger waves with curlers
  1. Use a dry section of the hair os use another model/head
  2. Section off the front of the hair down to the ear again, like before
  3. Create barrel curls in the hair going down towards the ear
  4. Leave in place until cooled
  5. Brush to curls into each other and down
  6. You then need to manipulate the hair slightly into the waves that you desire
  7. Then create a pin curl in the end of the hair and pin in place
